Anurag Varma was retained in August 2000 to serve as AAPI's Legislative Director in Washington, DC. He joined AAPI as an attorney with extensive legal experience "inside the beltway," including a term within the Congressional Affairs Division of the Canadian Embassy to the United States.

In addition to his Capitol Hill experience, Anurag is an Associate Attorney with the law firm of Conlon, Frantz, Phelan & Pires, LLP, where among other things he served as the Senior Associate on the legal team that won a $1 billion award in the largest class action civil rights settlement in U.S. history.

Anurag received his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta, Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of Denver, and L.L.M. from the Georgetown University Law Center. While Anurag was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, his family hails from Barielly, U.P. India
